This is one of those things that can be frustrating for those of us who are trying to gain weight.
Let’s be clear, weight gain is not what I’m talking about. It’s a symptom of the changes that are taking place in our brains. For most of us, the brain is not getting bigger, it’s getting fatter and fatter. That’s not the right word, but it’s the way I like to think of it.
Actually, the correct word is “brain” since the overall size of our brains has not changed. But the brain has been getting fatter. It has been getting fatter for the last fifty years and the fat cells in our brains have been growing. The fat cells have been growing, thanks in part to a whole host of hormones and chemicals in our bodies. These chemicals are known as adipocytes. They are found in the brain, fat cells, and the liver.
Adipocytes are the fat cells produced by the liver, but it is their fat content that is most important. Like many things in our bodies, they have their purpose and their purpose is to be very fat. A fat cell is not a cell that just sits there, that sits there and only gets fatter and fatter and fatter. It is something that has to have a purpose. And that purpose is to get fat.
If you have a fat cell, it is because you are burning fat. Your fat cell is the body’s way of storing fat for emergencies. It is not the only way, but it is the most efficient. And, believe it or not, there are other ways that your body can store fat. It is not just that you put your fat cells in your body and you’re done. The fat cells will go on producing fat for a long time.

For instance, studies have shown that people who gain weight in the first year of life tend to be much more successful later in life compared to those who do not. We are told that being overweight, even if it is for health reasons, is bad for us, but there are also studies that show that having a body that is full of fat is in fact good for us.
The idea of a “healthy” body is an idea that has been around for years. I remember as a kid being told to buy all of the new clothes I could because they were going to be “healthy bodies.” It’s sad to see this idea so popularised so much, because it’s so false, and we have been told to be what people want us to be all of our lives.
This is why I love the idea of getting into shape. It is not only about being fit, active, and healthy. Its about getting in touch with how we are as a human race and not only being what others want us to be. And once we get there, we can change. We can be the people who say, “Yes, I am healthy, I am active, I am fat, but I want to be healthy and active. I want to look good and be thin.
