I’ve discovered that I’m more aware of my own body than ever before.
While it’s nice to be able to tell where my hands are, it’s even more amazing being able to control them. In fact, most of the time, I actually find I am more aware of my own body than I’ve ever been before. The other day I was walking and suddenly felt a sharp pain in my knee. I could feel it, but it didn’t register on my awareness.
When I first started working out, it was very difficult to get my mind off my own body and focus on the physical sensations of the workout. I was constantly trying to think about the sensation of my hands, my feet, my body, but most of the time I just couldn’t get myself to notice.
The trick is to realize that what we’re doing is in large part, just a distraction. We’re not actually doing anything. The body and brain are engaged in a constant state of awareness. A distraction is something that we do to divert our attention and to keep us from focusing on what is actually happening. In this way, distractions can be really useful.
I get it. I was thinking about the same thing. How many times have I said something like, “I’m a distraction” when I see people walking past me on the street, or go to a party, or read a story or something. What is the purpose of that? Why do I constantly think about myself? I could just as easily say, “I’m a distraction because I am distracting myself from what I should be thinking about.
It’s a common misconception that we think of distractions as a way to be productive or to stop ourselves from doing something. What we are really doing is trying to get out of our head. The fact is, we all have different ways to get out of our heads. Some people are distracted by a good music and a positive image. Some are distracted by a good story and a positive attitude. Some are distracted by a bad story and a negative attitude.
The problem is that while there are many ways to get out of your head, there are also many ways to not get out of your head. The problem is that some people are more productive when they don’t think about it. Other people are more productive when they think about it. And other people are more productive when they try to distract themselves from it.
The problem is that we often find ourselves thinking about our own problems rather than our own solutions. We find our own solutions to problems, but we are not productive about finding ways to actually solve them. Which is why I was surprised to read about a company called Arms Circuit in the Wall Street Journal on June 12. The company sells a product that can help you do just that.
The company claims it can help you focus on the problem at hand, but not solve it. They claim they have a solution, but I’m not too sure if it actually works.
Arms Circuit’s product is essentially a device that connects to your phone and sends a signal to the brain, which in turn sends a signal to your arm so that you can type quickly. This allows you to do the “arms circuit” thing that many people do. I wish I had a solution for that problem but I know that it is not going to save me from the arms circuit.
