For example, in the United States, we have “regular” cereal, “plain” cereal, and “low-fat” cereal. “Normal” is the brand of cereal you take to work to have for breakfast. “Low-fat” is the brand for your cereal in your school cafeteria.
It might seem like the difference between the regular cereal and low-fat cereal is the kind of cereal you eat for breakfast. Actually, it’s the difference between the regular cereal and the cereal that comes with a bowl. The cereal you get from the bowl is the cereal you eat for breakfast. If you eat cereal that you didn’t order from the bowl, you just eat a bunch of cereal. If you eat cereal that you got from the bowl, you add it to your bowl.
In a school cafeteria, you might eat a whole bowl of cereal or you might only eat a small spoonful. In the case of the cereal, you might eat the whole bowl, which is much smaller than a spoonful.
