One person on the internet has actually broken all his hamstrings because he didn’t stretch enough. This is actually a common myth. The truth is, if you have a hamstrings that are too tight, the muscles will continue to be contracted in certain directions, creating a “torque”.
This is where the myth gets really bad. The fact is that the muscle is contracting in a very specific direction, all the way up your arms and in your back, but the muscles are contracting in a very specific way. The more relaxed you are, the more this happens. This isn’t to say that stretching isn’t important. It is, but the more you stretch, the more the muscle is contracting.
So the first thing to do is to take good care of your hamstrings. This is not a difficult task because it is not something that requires much effort. If you want to be really good at stretching, you can always take a yoga class. If you can’t do that, you can always work on your hamstrings at home.

However, if you do a good stretch, it can also be used to build up some muscle mass.
Even if you dont do yoga, you can still do some home stretching. Stretch your hamstrings while you’re doing some housework. It works, trust me. Another great way to build up muscle is to do housework while holding a dumbbell. This one is so ridiculous that I’m sure everyone knows it, but it’s true. You can do the dumbbell exercise for at least 4 minutes before you move on to the next exercise.
Okay, I know this is a long way to stretch your hamstrings, but trust me, it makes a huge difference in your overall strength and conditioning. The dumbbells are pretty small, but its hard to get a strong grip on them, so the better you do with them the more you will feel. Also, I’ve done this exercise hundreds of times and I have a bad feeling this will actually help you build your hamstrings too.

For the uninitiated, the dumbbell is a weight you hold up overhead, and as you move your body weight back and forth, you can strengthen your hamstrings.
