I’m the mother of two beautiful daughters and I absolutely love what I do. I have been a teacher of photography for twenty years and I am proud of my work. I’ve been a freelance photographer for eight years and I love the flexibility and the ability to combine both interests. I am very passionate about creating images and I love sharing them with the world.

As a freelance photographer, I spend all my time researching and photographing the latest trends in fashion, music, and art. I have an active social media presence and I hope to one day be a published photographer in my own right. I love making people feel comfortable in their own skin with their own style and I love sharing my work with people from all walks of life.

I am currently working on a project in which I am photographing models and celebrities from all over the world. We met Kelly back in the day, when she was just getting started as a model and a photographer. She has always been a self-described “artista,” and in our brief conversations we discussed the meaning and purpose of her work, and how it relates to photography. Kelly is a very passionate and talented photographer, and her work is incredibly diverse. She is interested in exploring the creative process as well as the meaning and purpose of her photos.

One of our favorite things about Kelly is that she is open to learning other disciplines. So in this video she talks about how she uses her craft to understand the meaning and purpose of her photographs. In turn, her audience can learn about how to use this process to find meaning and purpose in their own work too.

Kelly also talks about the concept of “the muse” as the person who inspires her creativity. This person may be a friend, a family member, a teacher, or an artist she’s had in her past. If you look in the gallery of some of her images, you can see that they all seem to have a singular muse.

For a while now I have wondered exactly what it will take to get me to put up my own gallery to share this information. Well, at least I think I do. As you may have guessed, The Kelly BABBIAN is Chicago’s official public art gallery. A friend and I found this place by accident in a city that had no public art. It felt like the perfect place to go to talk about photography, art, and everything else that makes up a Chicago life.
