I’ve got to tell you, I am a sucker for a punching bag. I absolutely love building makeshift punching bags, and this is exactly what I made! I originally tried to make this out of a box but ended up making it out of cardboard.
To be fair, this was made for my son who is a “hardcore” punching bag fan. He loves the fact that he can make a punching bag out of whatever is available to him, and this is exactly what I used to make this out of. I think he likes it because of the fact that he can make it look like a box but it’s actually made out of cardboard, which he has never seen before.
I am now a part of the growing legion of parents who use cardboard (or foamcore for those of us who are diehard) to make their sons or daughters a punching bag. My son has been such a fan of this for a while now that when I was making this out of cardboard I had to use a lot of it because he loves that it is both rough and durable, and it is something he can make himself.
With a box of cardboard I can find a spot for myself in the world and have a place to call my own. But without this, who is I to call for help? I like to think I’m a bit of a self-sufficiency person, but I’m not so sure.
This is a great idea, I can’t believe I didn’t think of it earlier. The way to make a punching bag is to create one that is a little more substantial than the basic flat-panel one. I also had to use a lot of cardboard because it is a lot stronger than the fabric ones (although not as strong as the ones made out of leather) and so much more durable.
A punching bag is basically a makeshift pillow made out of cardboard. The first time I made one I had to buy three different types of cardboard. I also had to cut out three different shapes of cardboard so that I could attach them together. If you have a little more money for cardboard than you do for fabric or leather, then you can make a pretty decent punching bag.
I’m not sure it’s a good idea to make a punching bag of cardboard, but I’m still going to try. I’m also not convinced that it’s any less durable than a pad or a blanket or a towel, but that will probably come with the purchase once I get a few punches in.

This is the material used in the traditional, heavier punching bags that are still commonly used in the martial arts world. PVC is a light-weight, high-strength material that is usually made with a single, relatively thick layer of a PVC plastic. This is especially beneficial for punching bags, because the thicker the material, the more material can be used to make the bag. The downside is that it is extremely flammable, so it is not suitable for general outdoor use.
