The best calorie counter, though, is the smart phone app you receive with your Fitbit. This is because it is very accurate, not only for your weight, but for your calorie intake.
The device is called a “bio-meter” or “bio-monitor” in this case, which is a misnomer because the device doesn’t actually measure the amount of calories you eat. It measures how your body temperature changes when you exercise. It is, however, very accurate. And you can get one for free on the Fitbit.com website.
The app does calculate your weight based on your temperature. It shows you how many calories you are expending per minute. But it also shows you how many calories you are expending per pound of your body weight. This is called “weight based calorie count” and can be the exact number of calories you will burn while on a treadmill while doing your cardio work out.
So far, the only app I’ve seen that does this is the app that runs on the iPhone (which I used to do a few years ago), but it’s not available on Android.
