I agree that we should all be more alert and aware for our own mental health, but we should also realize that not all of us are going to be in the same position. We can’t all be astronauts like Steve Jobs or astronauts with no memory like Neil Armstrong. Even if we are, we still need to be aware of our surroundings and of the fact that we might be going about our lives in different ways.
Of course we can always go to sleep and wake up in different ways, but if we do, we need to be able to tell the difference between the two. One of the things I personally hate most is the idea that we need to wake up in a certain way, or not at all. The idea that we have to be able to tell the difference between the two seems like an easy way to turn into a life lesson. I know I would.
I don’t know, maybe it’s because the idea is to keep us from being able to tell the difference between the two, but I think that the idea is a pretty good one. The difference between waking up and not waking up is what makes our lives so interesting. When we wake up, we can explore and learn about the world, but when we don’t, we can lose sight of that world, which is exactly what we want.
