A lot of people do not realize that they have several different muscles in their feet that do the same thing. We have the big muscle in our heel (which is why we have so many flats), also known as the “metatarsus”, “gluteus”, and “soleus” muscles. Together, these muscles provide a good toe, heel, heel and toes.
When you get a new pair of shoes, you don’t just want to know that the shoes are comfortable but also that they go with your foot shape. My personal favorite shoes have these four muscles in them: the medial metatarsal muscle and two other muscles in the heel. All of these muscles are so important that they can be described as the “stairmaster” muscles. And they can be made stronger with some exercises.
