When it comes to self-awareness, sandbags are usually the last thing that anyone would ever think of. But, it’s true. When you work out in the gym, it is a lot like getting sand in your shoes. A little sand can really make a difference. The sandbags hold dirt, gravel, and other small rocks that can make your workout a little more challenging.
Sandbags are also a great way for people to work out in a more intense or strenuous way. For example, I think the sandbags might have been a great tool to use for someone who suffers from back pain, because the bags are easy to use and they can provide a great stability and cushioning to their workouts.

For the bulk of our conversation, we were talking about the common cold, but I think it is safe to say that the pain that comes from sandbag training is a lot more extreme than that. When I say sandbag, I mean the heavy-duty foam/poly foam that has a hard polyurethane coating on the sides. These are designed to be very durable and are used to provide a great cushioned surface.

If you have a painful injury and you’re having trouble with your body moving, you can use a sandbag to provide a more stable surface to work on, or to simply strengthen your muscles. They also provide a good way to practice stretching—but keep in mind that for stretching to be effective, your muscles must be warm, not cold.
A lot of my own stretching has been done using a sandbag. However, I always have a hot-water bottle in my bag, and as long as I keep it warm, I can just use the sandbag to stretch. This helps my muscles get warmed up and ready to stretch more easily, which can take a long time.
